1. Where is the Village Administration office (also known as Village Hall) located?

The Village Administration office is located within the Acacia Subdivision at 201 Acacia Drive, just north of Joliet Road and east of Wolf Road.

2. How do I sign up for the Village’s newsletter and information updates?

Residents and businesses in the Village of Indian Head Park will receive their Smoke Signals newsletter four times a year and no sign up is required. Use the Stay Informed Alert Center on the website to sign up for automatic notification via email and/or text message on topics of interest. village communications page.

3. Does my contractor need a Contractor's license?

The Village of Indian Head Park issues Contractor Licenses to ensure that only properly licensed and insured contractors operate in the Village. The licensing process helps to keep the Village and its residents safe. Any individual or company that wishes to do business within the Village must first complete and submit a Contractor's License Application at Village Hall. Contractors performing work without obtaining a license will be fined. The Indian Head Park Police Department patrols the Village regularly to ensure that only licensed contractors are doing business in the village.
Residents should verify that the contractors they are hiring are licensed to do business in the Village. Residents concerned about unlicensed contractors in their area are encouraged to contact the non-emergency Police Department at 708-245-4534.

4. What should residents do about a solicitor that comes to the door?

Residents have the right to inquire if a solicitor has the necessary Village permit, and request paperwork from the solicitor. If a solicitor does not have the required permit, the resident may contact the non-emergency Police Department at 708-246-4534. Residents wishing to prevent door-to-door solicitors may obtain free "No Solicitation" decals at the Police Department during business hours.

5. Are there watering restrictions during the summer months?

From May 15 to September 15, watering of lawns using automated or manual sprinklers is prohibited from noon to 6:00 pm. If you have new sod, you may water for 24 hours unrestricted from time of installation. After the first 24 hour period after sod installation the watering restriction goes into effect. There is no restriction on the use of garden hoses.

6. What payments may I make online?

Residents of Indian Head Park may pay water and sewer bills, parking tickets, and ordinance violations online.

7. Is there a drop box for water bill and parking fine payments?

There is a drop box at the north end of the Administration office parking lot. This drop box is for all Village related items such as letters and water payments. Payments to other entities, such as monthly condo assessments, should be submitted directly to the association or entity.

8. Are there garbage restrictions or guidelines?

Garbage and recycling should not be put on the curb before sunset on the day before pickup. If you use cans, make sure that they are covered and remove them from the curb before 7 p.m. on the day of collection. Make sure that all garbage is in a can with a lid or in a heavy duty sealed bag.

9. Does the Village have any burning restrictions?

No person, or company may burn any rubbish, garbage, trash or other organic refuse anywhere in the Village. There is no restriction on outdoor wood fires for recreational or ceremonial purposes.

10. When do I need a Tree Permit?

Any individual wanting to remove a tree on their property must first complete and submit a Tree Permit Application. The Administration Department issues licenses for the removal all trees within the Village.

11. When do I need a Building Permit?

A building permit is required prior to the commencement of any construction, addition, alteration, demolition or interior/exterior remodeling affecting the structural integrity of any building structure.

12. Does the Police Department have a Vacation Watch process for residents?

If you would like the police to perform a vacation watch during your absence, please fill out the Vacation Watch form on the Police Department webpage and bring it to the Police Department no less than seven (7) days before your departure.

13. What company provides garbage collection and recycling services for the residents of Indian Head Park?

SBC Waste Solutions provides refuse an recycling services for all single family homes in the Village as well as the townhomes in Ashbrook, Indian Woods Drive, and Chestnut on the Green. 14. What newspapers serve the Indian Head Park Area?

The two regional papers are the Chicago Tribune and the Chicago Sun-Times.

The two newspapers that serve the Indian Head Park area are Suburban Life and The Doings. Suburban Life (630-368-1100) publishes on Wednesday and Saturday. The Doings (630-887-0600) publishes on Thursdays.

15. Does the Village require vehicle stickers?

Vehicle stickers are required for all motor vehicles registered or housed in the Village of Indian Head Park. Information on the Village’s vehicle registration and sticker process can be found on the Vehicle Sticker webpage.

16. Does the Village require permits for garage sales and block parties?

The Village currently does not require a permit for garage sales.

17. Does Indian Head Park have regulations stating the hours when noise from construction work, yard maintenance and other outdoor activities such as yard parties is not acceptable or allowed?

Complaints about loud noise at night or early in the morning should be directed to the non-emergency Police Department at 708-246-4534. Work hours are Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., Saturday and Sunday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

18. What are the parking restrictions during snow removal periods?

It is critical that residents not park vehicles on public street any time within a 24 hour time period folllowing an accumulation of two or more inches of snow or when snow removal is in progress.

19. Does the Village have a curfew? If so, what are the curfew hours?

Like other municipalities, Indian Head Park enforces state law with regard to curfew restrictions. Youngsters under the age of 17 are not permitted to be in any pubic area unless accompanied by a parent or legal guardian from the hours of 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. from Sunday through Thursday, and from 12 midnight to 6 a.m., Friday and Saturday.

20. Does the Village have its own library?

The Village has its own small community library located in the Heritage Center at 6250 South Wolf Road. Residents also have the option of purchasing a discount library card through the Village of McCook that allows access to many public libraries in the state of Illinois.

21. Does the Village provide notary services?

The Village has two staff members in the Administrative office that are Notary Public. They will provide notary services free of charge to residents wanting notary service of their own documents.

22. What are the Halloween Trick-or-Treating hours?

Suggested hours for trick-or-treating are from 3 - 7 p.m. in the Village of Indian Head Park.
